Best 5 tech cars

Cars excite serious passion, almost all of it completely irrational. I know that any time I criticize a car, I'll hear from plenty of its supporters. When I review a car, I try to keep my judgments balanced by other cars I've driven. But I've got my own automotive passions, too. I favor nimble, quick cars over lumbering behemoths. Here are five of my personal favorites from the cars we've reviewed here at CNET Car Tech.

2009 Nissan GT-R

Big and brutish, super fast but well-mannered, the GT-R is the best toy around. Sure, it's a rough ride, but I felt lucky just to be driving it. The kind of power you get on tap is crazy. You don't need to worry about passing--you will be able to make it. I only regret that I couldn't get this on the track during our review period. This car is an instant classic.

2009 Cadillac CTS-V

Getting into the CTS-V, I still had a bias against American cars, thinking this would be an ill-handling over-powered beast impossible to keep on the road. It quickly proved me wrong. Sure it has unbelievable horsepower and torque, but the handling in the turns was incredibly easy, seeming even better than the BMW M3.

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR

With its all-wheel-drive system, double clutch gearbox, and hard drive-based nav system, I wanted to review this car ever since I saw it debut at an auto show. We finally got it in, and it's everything I expected. The handling makes it possible to explore the twistiest roads you can find, at speed.

2008 BMW 135i Coupe

The 135i just puts a big old grin on my face when I'm behind the wheel. The 135i is a mini-rocket, able to shoot up to amazing speeds quickly. Its handling is excellent, letting you step out a bit without getting sideways.

2009 Lincoln MKS

The MKS doesn't really fit with my other picks, as it's no sports car. But the audio system and the cabin tech is just so good, and it's such a comfortable cruiser, I had to include it. When you get tired of ripping around country roads, this is the car to drive, enjoying the phenomenal sound of the THX audio system, using the nav to find the lowest gas prices and movie times.
