Just as you'd demand the right credentials from an architect or an electrician, you should make sure your home technology integrators have the proper qualifications. We recommend that your home integrators and tech professionals hold at least some of the following qualifications.

Installer I (CCPI I)  |
Certified to install (with supervision) wiring, cabling, and components for home theater, whole-house sound, home automation, phone systems, and data networks. |
Installer II (CCPI II)  |
Supervises home integration projects and CEDIA Installer I technicians; troubleshoots, calibrates, and ensures standards are met. |
Designer (CCPD)  |
Meets with clients and contractor, then selects the products and materials for various home systems, including security, home theater, audio and video, heating and lighting, cable and satellite TV, data, and telephone networks. |

A+
 |
Entry-level technician with at least 500 hours of hands-on experience and knowledge of essential hardware and operating systems, diagnostic and maintenance care, as well as experience with basic networking. |
Network+
 |
Technician with A+ certification who specializes in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting basic networking services, including wired Ethernet and wireless networks. |
HTI+
 |
Technician with A+ certification who specializes in installing, integrating, and troubleshooting home automation subsystems, such as structured and electrical wiring, security, heating and air conditioning, data networks, broadband, home A/V setups, and phone systems. |
